The 63 Building and Hangang Park
Hey everybody,
It was another beautiful, sunny day...about 27 degrees. We read in the Seoul travel book (on loan to us from another teacher) that the 63 building was a good place to go. It is called the 63 building because of its 63 floors;however, 3 of which are actually underground. It is the tallest building in all of Seoul and it has an IMAX theatre, a Seaworld, shopping, a buffet restaurant, an observation deck and a bunch of offices. Before we got to this building, we had to walk for 15 minutes from the subway. It was really nice because we found Hangang Park which is an area where people hang out by the water, fly kites and barbeque food. There are also some restaurants in boats on the water, one of which included a KFC! We found out that this is where you can go on a Han River Cruise which serves a buffet. We will do that at a later time, however. Today was the 63 building adventure, afterall.
So, the first thing we did was eat at the food court. I had a Korean veg/beef/rice/egg stirfry which was good, but burned out the inner lining of my stomach, I'm sure. Shawn had a "meat" spaghetti. Then we went to the IMAX because we were told to by the lady. It was a documentary on dolphins where we had to wear special dorky radio things to hear the English version, as narrated by Pierce Brosnon. After that, we went to Seaworld which consisted mainly of fish, eels, a few harbour seals, and some geckos. Man, do Koreans ever love their eels!!!!
Then we finally went up 60 floors to the observation deck. It was really the highlight of the day. The view was so beautiful because it was nighttime and there were so many lights. It was nice to see the city in its entirety. We were actually looking down at skyscrapers. Unfortunately, it was extremely hard to capture the moment using our camera but it will be hard to forget.
Once we left the 63 building, we went to the KFC boat and ate because Shawn was hungry. By the way, Shawn has been eating ice cream EVERY SINGLE DAY he has been in Seoul. His ring no longer fits his finger anymore! To be fair, there is an unusual amount of ice cream stands in this city. But you can all expect a fatter Shawn upon our arrival!!!HA!
This is me with the fish. It looks like I'm looking at them, but really, I'm looking at my own, beautiful appearance!
Shawn is being attacked by fake dolphins!!!Save him, random Korean gentleman!!!
We like this pic from the 63 because it shows the lights from the traffic on the north and south sides of the river...just like Fredericton!!! (maybe not)
This is my new friend:________? (the 63 munchkin) It kept following us around and shows up in some of our other pictures as a reflection...
Shawn's new friends.
So, Shawn decided to climb the 63 building and I had to call the Korean Fire Department to get him down!!!
This is a panoramic view of the area around the 63 building in the daylight. Notice, Seoul Tower on the mountain, the bridges, the statues and mel's chest!
So the video starts out focusing on Shawn's walk into the future and ends with our "friend". You'll need to tilt your head for this one.
